About Scott Breton

Scott Breton is a figurative fine artist, using a range of traditional drawing, painting and sculpting media as well as digital counterparts to these.   He is based in Brisbane but also now making art some of the year in Florence, Italy.

After completing a science degree (BSc (Genetics) University of Queensland), Scott committed fully to pursuing art, continuing a classically leaning arts education and practise begun much earlier.  In 2010, Scott was one of the founders of Atelier Art Classes, a classical fine art school here in Brisbane.  In 2012 Scott won the highly contested A.M.E. Bale Travelling Scholarship, Australia’s largest national prize for developing the careers of representational artists. This allowed Scott to do further study with contemporary classical artists in the US and Europe, and has contributed to his view of the of the relevance of Renaissance thinking and aesthetics in the Arts in the 21st century.  He is interested in the interface between the traditional and modern media of the visual plastic arts, as well as the interface of the modern human experience with the timeless human condition.
